David Butler

About me 

I am a self-taught editor and filmmaker, who has to date self-financed his own projects. Almost all my productions have been ultra low to no budget productions, on an expenses-only basis.

I had been involved in a number of short films, a few music videos and a 4min game-show that had a brief run on BEN TV in 2003. I have also been involved with a feature film which I helped shoot, co-funded, co-produced and co-edited.

In the here and now, I am the stitch editor/co-designer and one of the VT editors of a monthly internet music show, www.musiomusicTV.com.

Some of my projects were only made in order to stretch my abilities, and have in general turned out good enough to show.

There are way too many to mention them all here (plus thinking of them all would really test my poor old brain). But to name a few:
The Shawshank Redemption, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp fiction, Breaking The Waves, Red Dragon, The Others, The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Los Debutantes, Moulin Rouge, Saw, The Hole, Cruel Intentions, Bound, Baise Moi, Seven, Leon and many many more...
Music:
Music was my first love in life, and it is still very important to me. My taste goes from one extreme to another, and includes Rock (both classic and new), Indie, some Pop (more eighties and nineties), classical, folk, jazz, blues, and R 'n' B (old classics as apposed to comercial pop).
Books:
Although I read a little as a child, mainly at school admittedly, I didn't really discover reading for pleasure until later in life. Now I can list authors such as: James Herbert, Linda La Plante, John Grisham, Nick Hornby as well as a number of others.

HI David - thanks for commenting on my film Hum Drum. I appreciate all constructive feedback. This was shot in a rush to n make the Diet Coke deadline last year and I was surprised to make the finals! Anyway she gave the robber some jewelry and the drink in the mirror and the wink were meant to say that he had brightened her day and she quite enjoyed the whole experience of being robbed!

I'm glad you liked my film 'Ellos'. I think it's undoubtedly my best one, except maybe my last short, which I haven't uploaded yet. As for the script, I wrote it about 30 years ago, as soon as I read the story by Robert A. Heinlein, which I found very cinematographical indeed, but I didn't dare to shoot the film till 1996, because I thought I wasn't prepared for this. Was I right? Who knows? I was lucky with the cast and the crew too, and the shooting process itself was really easy, a lot easier than I feared. By the way, it was the producer and photographer who persuaded me to shoot the film after having read the script.
