About me 

After a Classical High School Degree at Istituto Zaccaria (Milan) in 2002, Giacomo Arrigoni graduated in Science and Communication Technology at IULM University (Milan) with an essay entitled From “Filmed Theatre” to Cinema: the Camera Conquers Movement.

Passionate in cinema and audiovisual languages since childhood, he completed many intensive courses and workshops: Studies in World Cinema: Film Forms and Contexts at Middlesex University, London (2003); Filmmaking Workshop at NYFA - New York Film Academy (2004); The Director Works with the Actor: Building a Character with Centro Produzioni Teatrali, Milan (2006); Digital Camera Operator Workshop with ActionZone Production, Milan (2006); “Financing Techniques and Promotion Strategies for Audiovisual and Cinematographic Products” Workshop, at IULM University, Milan (2006); “European Films Crossing Borders” Workshop, organized by Fundaciòn Autor (Spain) and the European Union MEDIA Program, S. Sebastian Film Festival (2007); “Directing Performance” Workshop with Chris Thomas at Raindance, London (2007).

From 2004 to 2005 he has worked for Lombardy Film Commission as location scouter, camera operator, photographer and editor. In 2006 he has worked in the multimedia area of the Milan-based XComm with different responsibilities that covered all the production chain, from the conception of the idea to the final product. He has worked at the making of several corporate videos for important clients like FIAT, ALFA ROMEO, LANCIA, CARLSON WAGONLIT and LIQUIGAS.

While working as freelance editor and camera operator for different communication and production companies (he has realized video editing and corporate films for clients like JESSE, POLIFORM, RIMADESIO and TENACTA), he realizes, edits and encodes short videos for the web magazine milanodabere.tv.

He has written and directed several short movies, commercials, documentaries and corporate videos in 16mms, DV and HDV, working for Film Production Houses, Film Commissions, Advertising Agencies and Multimedia Content Providers.

His short film Syntony, presented at the Cannes Short Film Corner 2007, received a Remi Award for Creative Excellence at the 40th Annual WorldFest International Film & Video Festival, Houston (Texas, USA), a Best Directing – Critics Award at the Albisola Corto Festival (Italy) and has been officially selected by the Romance in a Can Film Competition 2008 (Miami, USA), by the International Fest of Cinema and Technology 2008 (Los Angeles, USA), by the Short Film Festival of India 2008 (Chennai and Guwahati, India) by the Earth Spirit Love Web Film Festival 2008 (USA) and by the Babelgum Online Film Festival 2008.

After receiving important and positive comments from international directors and producers, the short film distribution rights have been acquired by Maitland Primrose Media.

His new short film, The Woodshed Shade, a powerful story about a child compelled to become adult and overcome his nightmares and fears to survive against the violence of the world, will officially hit the festival circuit after being presented at the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival 2008.

In June 2007 he has received a Special Mention for his advertising campaign script about social awareness toward disabled persons at the Ledha Spot Festival (Milan).

Besides realizing audiovisual products, Arrigoni writes scripts for short and feature films, commercials, documentaries and cross-platform fiction series.

His first feature film script Murex, a supernatural thriller about creative power, has been optioned by a Los Angeles-based production company to produce as a feature film or TV pilot.
